Multitalented Carlos Vives is a magnificent musician and a star of the screen. The chart topper has enjoyed a distinguished musical carer seeing him win the highest awards and relishes the admiration of devoted fans across the globe.

Born in Santa Marta, Columbia, in 1961, Vives moved with his family to Bogotá. Developing a love for rock music, he started to play in the bars and clubs across the city and became emeshed with the local music scene.

His first records were released in the late eighties, around the same time he found fame playing the star of TV show Gallito Ramírez. Finding himself in high demand around the world, he pursued an acting career which saw him rise to prominence.

His return to music came in 1993 with the release of the album Clásicos de la Provincia. The record saw him gather together the band La Provincia and develop rock with Vallenato. Angering purists but electrifying admirers, the album set tongues aflame and has come to be considered one of the greatest ever Columbian records.

Since his start in music he has released sixteen amazing studio albums, which is no mean feat considering that he has also found the time to still act.

His illustrious music career has been massively commercially successful and praised by critics and the press. Carlos Vives has won two Grammys, having been nominated four times, for Best Traditional Tropical Latin Album with Déjame Entrar in 2002 and Best Tropical Latin Album with Más + Corazón Profundo. He has won nine awards out of an amazing nineteen nominations at the Latin Grammy Awards, and has been highly decorated by the Columbian music industry.
